The Educated Ferret Rescue/Shelter is CLOSED to new intakes!

At this time we are full due to an increase in surrendered ferrets and are unable to take in any more. Please feel free to give us a call if you must surrender your ferret and we can give you the names of two shelters in the area that handle ferrets.

The only exception to intakes would be on an emergency basis.

The Educated Ferret Association is dedicated to supporting the mission of F.E.R.R.A.  From its conception in November of 1997 to September 2001, Donna Spirito has personally placed over 850 ferrets into permanent private homes.  They have been given a second chance for happy lives and have brought much joy and love to their adoptive families.

The process may seem slow and tedious, but it is for a good reason.  Most ferrets who are at the rescue are there because of disinterest, neglect, or circumstances that didn't allow their former owners to maintain a relationship.  F.E.R.R.A. takes every measure it can to ensure that a ferret will never again end up homeless.  Scared and abused ferrets who come to F.E.R.R.A. are taught to love and trust humans again and we repay their trust by carefully finding them a safe and loving place to call home.
